2010 Summer Science Topics

Students today are looking for challenges! Spectrum of Science is helping elementary age children develop a competitive edge while giving them fun based science designed to instill confidence in science & to turn learning into play! Our interdisciplinary curriculum incorporates more than just “science”. Lessons are designed to stimulate youngsters to express their own originality & to motivate them to see their world in a totally new way! PASSPORT TO SCIENCE: Travel thru the amazing world of science! So much to discover & so little time! Here is a flurry of non stop science without boundaries. Labs include happening experiments & a continental journey! Compare Pangea with today! Snap a circuit! Encounter a babaroosa & a lilly walker! Foray deeper into fluid concoctions & effervescent chemistry! General science labs include Biology, Chemistry, Physics & more! Complete your science exploration with a stamped passport!

PHYSICS AND FUN!: Join in this mish mash of destruct & reconstruct! ! Your imagination, your design, your project! Will it become a robot or a space explorer? Make it move or light up! Observe it, smash it & build a “what’s It”! This is elementary physics in action! Using recycled materials each child will learn principles of simple machines, structural details, electrical circuits & more & will create their own unique projects. Take it apart! Put it together – mighty or mini! Experiment, test & try! Science has never been so unknown & so much fun!

SEA & SPACE SCIENCE CAPERS!: The greatest adventure is what lies ahead! This camp covers marine & space science from the depths of Earth to outer regions of space! Probe the unknown from creeps of the deep to aliens! Find undersea chimneys on Earth & view pillars in a nebula seen by Hubble! Design your own mission & vehicle with K’nex! Is it to the sea floor or will its destination be mighty Mars? Today’s children are tomorrow’s scientists & this is a great beginning!

SCIENCE RETURNS WITHOUT BOUNDARIES: This camp features a return of projects done in the 2009-2010 after school program. Included are such labs as the boney skeletal frame, smelly connections & the great brain. Spin & spiral around the solar system! See the celestial universe! Who has orange teeth? Going green & glowing science labs! Check out dinosaur differences and behavior! Who spits? Splat is super science & messy fun! Shark surveillance for those fascinated with sleek streamlined creatures! Test the pulling power of amazing & awesome cephalopods! This will be an expialidocious experience!
