AFTER SCHOOL LABS
Our interdisciplinary curriculum incorporates more than just “science” – includes of science, technology, engineering, history & art, hands-on science projects & fun to be experienced in these labs! The labs are designed to motivate young students & inspire them to see the world in a new way! The scientific spectrum is truly fun and all of this fun IS really truly science!

SIMPLE MACHINES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND! Are simple machines an actual invention or simply something learned from exploring & testing the world around us? Each week find fun in physics using crazy & cool K’nex plus hammers & nails! Join in a siege of the castle! Build a mini-catapult and fire away! This is junkyard design at its best! Can you build a new invention out of an old one?
DYNAMIC DRAGONS AND DINOSAURS: Become a paleobiologist! Probe the prehistoric world of dinosaurs & see what remains today! Examine dinosaur remnants of the past then delve into modern dragons! They do exist! Puzzle the periods of the Mesozoic Era!! Science has never been so much fun!

MARINE SCIENCE MANIA: Enter the world where little sunlight penetrates! Will your submarine submerge? Where are the whales? Survey symbiotic relationships of the deep! Why are these sea inhabitants hiding in the fort of a sponge? Research a fish cleaning station - find who is using it!
SHARK INVESTIGATION: Children requested that we repeat this lab! In these two weeks they will begin to understand that sharks may be at the top of their food chain & thus they are a significant indicator species of marine ecosystems as a whole. They will study the basic internal structures of a shark as well as observe its specialized features. How do the lateral line, the Ampullae of Lorenzini & the nictitating membrane assist the pelagic animal? This is a way to demonstrate conservation & preservation of the natural world!
